I really wish I knew these earlier!

If you're new here: Hi, I'm Louise! 👋

Here on this channel, I talk all about growing a successful online business. So, if that is what you are doing, hit “Subscribe” down below. All right, so here are the mindset shifts that I have needed to make.

Stay Fixed on the Goal

The first of my mindset shifts is to stay fixed on the goal, but flexible as to how you get there. I actually repeat Marie Forleo's mantra: “Everything is figureoutable”, almost every single day. It is, of course, challenging to build an online business. You're going to hit roadblock after roadblock. Things are not going to go as planned, and you're going to need to tweak things or change your entire strategy in order to hit your goal. What has been really helpful for me is staying determined; staying fixed on that goal, and then just being flexible as to how I'm actually going to get there. This has made the journey a lot more fun, too, because I'm never actually feeling defeated and giving up. I'm just switching things up and figuring things out.

Taking Risks

The next of my mindset shifts is something that people talk about all the time, and that is taking risks. What I mean specifically is taking the leap before you feel ready, in order to get results that you want. I didn't realize this when I first started and I was always waiting until I achieved the result before I took the action that I needed. So this is actually backwards. 🙃 I needed to actually make the leap to the investment, take that next step in order to achieve results that I wanted. So this one is a little confusing, but when you get it, it is going to change everything.

For example, let's say you are maxed out in your business right now, but you want to take it to the next level.  You know that it would be smart to hire a team member. You are also waiting until your business is at the next level. That is the problem. Hiring the team member is what frees up your time in order to bring in more income and take your business to the next level. As you are making decisions in your business, trying to go to the next level, it is important that you get more comfortable in taking risks like that.

Being Uncomfortable is a Good Thing

This brings me to the next one on our "mindset shifts" list: being uncomfortable is a good thing. If you are uncomfortable, then that means that you are growing. Honestly, we always talk about growth as though it's such a good thing, but it's actually really uncomfortable. It's frustrating. It's scary. Anytime that you're getting out of your comfort zone, you're going to be experiencing that. Entrepreneurship is the best personal development exercise out there, so it is going to challenge every single side of you. It's going to challenge your leadership, your fears, your money mindset, and honestly the list goes on. Anytime I'm struggling or having a tough time, I just remind myself: “okay, this means you're growing”. Uncomfortable is good, even though it doesn't feel it. 💪

Investment is a Simple Calculation

Next: let's talk about investments. So the sooner that you reframe this and really approach any investment as a business owner, it's going to make it a lot easier for you. Anytime you are considering investing in your business, and let's be honest, there are many things that you're going to need to invest in. Whether it's software, equipment, tools, people to help you grow. This is what I want you to keep in mind, it's a simple calculation.

So let's say that there's an online course out there that costs $1,000. All you have to do is ask yourself, will implementing the strategies in that program help you make back that $1,000? If the answer is “yes”, then you should go for it! You have to trust yourself that when you join the program, you are going to really go all in. You're going to learn all the strategies, you're going to implement it; and then you will definitely be confident that you can make the $1,000 back.

It's not even about just making your money back. Oftentimes, it is going to be a true investment, and you're going to see the benefit and return from that again and again in the future. This has really changed the way that I approach investing in my business. I've made so many fantastic investments, and very quickly made back the money and seen the benefits for years after. So, don't be scared in investing in the programs and softwares that you need.

Don’t Get Caught Up in Only Using Free Tools

So this actually brings me to my next point, which is all about the tech tools that you choose. If you're new here: tech is my specialty, and I'm always sharing tips on what tech and systems you should use in your online business. When you're first getting started and you're not making any money in your business yet, it is very easy to get caught up in using only free tools.

I can tell you from experience that this is holding you back! ✋

I see so many people using the wrong tools, and wasting so much time trying to hack all these different softwares together. It's not the way you should be approaching the tools that are the foundation of your business. Not only do these softwares have limitations on the free versions, but you are going to waste a lot of your time (which is highly, HIGHLY valuable) trying to piece them all together.

What you want to do is calculate how much time using the right software is going to save you. Also, how much income using that tool could bring in for your business and make your decision based off of that. I see people holding themselves back, when really they need the tool in order to be able to implement a strategy that will bring in more money for them. So keep that in mind, as you are choosing your tech tools.

All right, So those are the essential mindset shifts that I've needed to make 🙌. Let me know your thoughts in the comments, I would love to hear from you!
