Here's how I like to define branding: 

Branding is the cumulative effect of all of the elements in your business (your story, your visuals, your personality and more) that creates a perception about what you do and what you stand for. 

Branding includes but is not limited to: 

• your logo

• your colour palette

• your values

• your personality

• your font

• your website

• your brand photography

• your style/aesthetic

I’ve always found that starting out with a general style or aesthetic is the easiest way to get started in branding. Once you have determined your online aesthetic, it's much easier to create your logo, colour palette and other brand elements.
